Climb

When the mountainside is rough

And rocks on ridge and bluff

Bar your progress to the distant peaks sublime.

Though your strength and heart are breaking,

Take pride in the fight you’re making.

Throw your rope around a higher rock and

Climb.

I'm a motorcycle-riding gramma/great-gramma, mom of three grown (responsible) adults and wife of 42+ years to a very patient, supportive guy named Darrel.

From humble beginnings on a "stump ranch" in NE BC, I came to Alberta an introverted 5 year old. That shy kid has become an outspoken, forthright woman who stands up for what's right and won't back away from a righteous fight.

I've been a retail & restaurant manager, a real estate professional and a health & safety advisor. While my kids were in school, I sat on parent advisory councils, helping start & chairing one formed at a new school. I've sat on for-profit and not-for-profit Boards including my local Co-op & the Goldeye Foundation.

Little did I know, these leadership roles were preparing me for an even bigger challenge: municipal governance. I was elected to Council in the Town of Mayerthorpe  in 2017 and became the Mayor less than 18 months later. As an elected official, I got involved with Alberta Municipalities, first as a committee member, then as a Director on the Board. Currently, I'm a member of their Economic Strategies Committee.

My municipal duties have connected me with many other organizations. I sit on the local RhPAP Committee as the representative for the Tamarack Health Advisory Council, as well as our Subdivision Development Appeal Board. I'm also the Chair of Growth Alberta, the Regional Economic Development Alliance (REDA) in the region.

I've spent lots of time over the last 5+ years collaborating with elected officials from across our great province. I came to understand the challenges in our communities are universal. And I knew I wanted to do more.

I NEEDED TO DO MORE!

As MLA for Lac Ste. Anne-Parkland, I promise to be a vocal advocate for this constituency. I promise to be available when someone needs my time. I promise to lead with integrity. I promise to conduct myself with dignity. I promise to never compromise my principles. Finally, I promise to always be unapologetically, exactly who I am; the person you elected.

PEOPLE, NOT POLITICS!
